Finney County Booking Process
The sheriff's jail booking process page includes several details that help explain what appears in inmate records. It states that the Sheriff's Office was one of the first sheriff's offices in Kansas to use a live-scan electronic fingerprint machine from Cross Match. Live scan captures and transmits fingerprints and arrest data directly to the Automated Fingerprint Identification System at the Kansas Bureau of Investigation.
Money held by a prisoner is confiscated at lodging and placed into an in-house computerized trust fund. Commissary purchases and medical co-pay debits come from that fund. The page also says Keefe Commissary Network provides commissary services once a week for non-perishable food and snacks, writing tablets, envelopes, stamps, non-prescription medications, and hygiene items.

Finney County Commissary Money

Finney County Jail vs KASPER
The county roster and state offender search answer different questions. The Finney County jail roster is for people booked into or housed in local county custody. KASPER, the Kansas Adult Supervised Population Electronic Repository, is a Kansas Department of Corrections search for sentenced offenders, prison custody, parole, postrelease, and KDOC supervision. A person may be absent from the jail roster because they were released, transferred, sentenced to KDOC, held in another county, or never booked locally.
The Southwest Kansas Regional Juvenile Detention Center is also distinct from the adult jail roster. It is a 28-bed hardware-secure juvenile correctional facility in Garden City operated by Finney County for regional judicial districts. Juvenile detention records should not be searched or described as adult inmate roster records.
KASPER also should not be used to confirm a new Finney County booking. It is a state corrections search, not a county intake list.
